Working in Shanghai

Our Shanghai office enjoy regular socials together, taking part in activities and attending events to build on their close-knit culture, such as teambuilding activities and meals together to celebrate outstanding performance. Alongside having fun socially, the team also participate in our global charity initiatives to raise money for charitable causes through our KindNES Foundation. 

Our central location means we’re spoilt for choice for local restaurants to enjoy. Shanghai offers an eclectic mix of cuisines to choose from, including local and international, so there will always be something to satisfy your tastebuds! One of our team’s favourite restaurants is Lost Haven, which offers delicious Yunan dishes.

Local to our office, you’ll find lots of great shopping facilities, all offering a different type of experience. Xintiandi is a modern area with lots of shopping malls, restaurants and cinemas, but you’ll also find authentic markets and bazars for a more traditional shopping experience. 

Shanghai’s famous fabric market, South Bund Material Market, is the place to go for tailored or bespoke clothing, and the Yuyuan Bazar is a great place to buy souvenirs and experience local street food. 

If larger shopping centres are more your thing, Shanghai boasts three large outlets - Bicester Village Shanghai, Florentia Village and Bailian Outlet Plaza, so you won’t be short on places to shop! 

You won’t have to travel far to experience the beauty of Shanghai’s culture, as many of the city’s famous landmarks are within close proximity to our office. The Yuyuan Garden is a historic Chinese garden, filled with pools, pavilions, bridges, trees and flowers, as well as decorative halls, providing a tranquil escape from its busy metropolitan surroundings. 

The Bund is Shanghai’s famous waterfront promenade, often referred to as ‘An Exhibition of International Buildings’ in recognition of the array of architectural buildings that make up part of Shanghai’s iconic skyline.

Xintiandi has a lively nightlife scene and offers lots of great places to enjoy your evening, from cafes and restaurants to bars and clubs, you won’t get tired of places to visit. Our team enjoy meeting friends for dinner or drinks and trying new places in the local area, or spending time together in the comfort of their home.

The coffee scene in Shanghai is a prominent part of the city’s vibrant culture, illustrated by its vast number of coffee shops. In fact, it has one of the highest densities of coffee shops across the globe, leading some to consider it the new ‘coffee capital of the world’. 

You’ll find a great selection of international coffee shop chains nearby, such as Starbucks and Costa, and a Tim’s coffee shop located in the lobby of our office building. Additionally, the surrounding area provides an abundance of local cafes for a more quintessential experience.
