In honour of World Environment Day, our global Travel teams have been actively participating in diverse sustainability initiatives to make a positive impact on our planet.
Members of our US Travel Team recently teamed up with the Orange County Mayor and the Environmental Protection Division for a volunteer event during Earth Week. Together, they engaged in activities such as a trash cleanup, invasive plant removal, and native tree planting.
Our Bangalore Travel Team exemplified commitment by collecting clothes from our office and distributing them to the homeless and underprivileged in NGOs, including elderly care and disabled orphan homes.
Additionally, the team took a proactive stance by dispersing 1000 tree seed bombs in the Manduru reserve forest, with the goal of combating deforestation and fostering drought-resistant tree growth. Recognising the dire state of local lakes due to pollution, they also undertook the task of cleaning the surroundings of a nearby lake, addressing the plastic and waste accumulation caused by daily visitors.
Two of our UK Travel Team participated in litter picking along a local waterway, enhancing biodiversity and cleanliness to support flourishing wildlife.
Our Middle East and APAC Teams played their part through carpooling initiatives and tree planting endeavours. Together, these collective actions underscore our unwavering commitment to environmental stewardship.
On top of this, the Travel team organises for all of the carbon generated from our staff travel to be offset by supporting a variety of sustainability causes across the world.
In addition to our sustainability initiatives, we're also empowering the business travellers within our organisation to adopt more eco-friendly travel practices.
• Choose Eco-Friendly Accommodations: Opt for hotels and accommodations that prioritise sustainability, such as those with energy-efficient systems, recycling programs, and green certifications.
• Reduce Carbon Footprint: Consider alternatives to air travel, such as video conferencing or train travel, whenever feasible. When flying is necessary, choose direct flights to minimise emissions.
• Pack Light: Traveling with lighter luggage reduces fuel consumption and carbon emissions. Try to pack only the essentials and choose reusable or biodegradable toiletries and containers.
• Transport: Where possible try to use public transportation, bicycles, or walking for getting around the destination. This not only reduces carbon emissions but also provides a more immersive experience of the local culture.
By embracing these sustainable travel practices, our business travellers not only reduce their environmental footprint but also uphold our company's core values of Integrity & Responsibility.
